L’objectif de cet article est d’explorer comment un certain nombre de processus se sont combinés pour créer les stratégies et procédures de micro-niveau qui ont abouti à l’incendie de forêt le plus meurtrier et le plus tragique de l’histoire du Portugal. L’article montre comment l’effondrement de la structure a conduit les équipes à n’utiliser que des informations locales, ce qui a provoqué des actes de myopie d’improvisation, sous la forme particulière de la myopie corrosive, et comment une forme d’improvisation incidentale a conduit à des résultats catastrophiques. La recherche offre un aperçu des dangers de l’improvisation découlant de la myopie corrosive, en identifiant les moyens de les minimiser avec le développement de pratiques d’improvisation qui permettent la création de nouveaux modèles d’action.
