Shannon Picardo, un parrain de promotion stimulant

Cette aventure entrepreneuriale a germé dans sa tête quand Shannon cherchait pour lui-même un tel outil numérique pour ses révisions du bac. « J’ai fait le constat que cela n’existait pas, et c’est comme cela que mon projet d’entreprise a pris forme », explique l’entrepreneur de 29 ans. Et il ne tarde pas à le concrétiser, en saisissant l’opportunité de la création de l’incubateur TBSeeds l’année même de son entrée au Bachelor. « C’était complètement nouveau, l’école proposait aux étudiants de les accompagner dans la création de leur boîte. Je croyais à mon projet et j’ai été sélectionné ».

A partir de là, Shannon mène de front sa scolarité, ses examens et le développement de SchoolMouv auquel il consacre tout son temps libre. « Je passais mes soirées et mes week-ends à l’incubateur et j’ai pu adapter mon cursus en conséquence, notamment pour les stages que j’ai pu faire chez SchoolMouv, se souvient-il. Parallèlement, j’ai également cofondé At Home dans l’incubateur avec quatre autres associés. C’est un espace de coworking dont je suis toujours actionnaire et qui accompagne une cinquantaine d’entreprises sur deux campus toulousains ».

Envie de se rendre utile et disponible

C’est ce beau parcours entrepreneurial que Shannon vient aujourd’hui partager avec les étudiants du Bachelor en devenant le parrain de la promotion 2022-2024. Neuf ans après son diplôme, il y voit l’occasion de se rendre utile auprès d’eux, de les accompagner et de répondre à leurs interrogations sur l’entrepreneuriat ou sur leur avenir professionnel. « Je veux me rendre disponible s’ils me contactent sur des sujets où ils pensent que je peux les aider », précise-t-il.

Lors de sa première rencontre avec la promotion, Shannon a délivré un discours stimulant dans lequel il a rappelé aux étudiants que le Bachelor était un tremplin idéal pour prendre des risques et expérimenter l’entrepreneuriat. Il les a également engagés à profiter pleinement de ces 3 années extrêmement courtes, et à constituer et à entretenir dès aujourd’hui un réseau amical et professionnel précieux pour leur vie future. Nul doute que ce parrain expérimenté sera une belle source d’inspiration pour cette nouvelle promotion.

Shannon Picardo, an inspirational class mentor

You may not know Shannon Picardo, but chances are you’ve already used his services. Because 1 out of 2 high school students and 1 out of 3 middle school students now have an account with SchoolMouv, the digital tutoring platform he created when he was a student on the TBS Bachelor’s program. It allows all students, from the first to the final year of high school, to find all the French National Education system’s courses online, with fun and reliable pedagogical content created by teachers.

Student entrepreneur

This entrepreneurial adventure took shape when Shannon was looking for a digital tool to help him revise for his high school exams. “I realized it didn’t exist, and that’s how my business project took shape,” explains the 29-year-old entrepreneur. And he wasted no time in making it a reality, seizing the opportunity to create the TBSeeds incubator the same year he entered the Bachelor program. “It was completely new, the school offered to help students create their own company. I believed in my project and I was selected.” From then on, Shannon juggled his studies, his exams and the development of SchoolMouv, to which he devoted all his free time. “I spent my evenings and weekends at the incubator, and I was able to adapt my academic studies accordingly, especially when it came to the internships I was able to do with SchoolMouv”, he recalls. “At the same time, I also co-founded At Home at the incubator with four other partners. It’s a coworking space in which I’m still a shareholder and which supports about fifty companies on two Toulouse campuses”.

A desire to be useful and available

Shannon has come to share this exciting entrepreneurial journey with students on the Bachelor’s program, becoming a mentor to the class of 2022-2024. Nine years after his graduation, he sees this as an opportunity to offer help and support, and to answer their questions about entrepreneurship and their future careers. “I want to make myself available if they contact me about subjects where they think I can help them”, he says.

At his first meeting with the year group, Shannon delivered an inspiring speech reminding the students that the Bachelor’s degree is an ideal springboard for risk-taking and experimenting with entrepreneurship. He also urged them to take full advantage of these 3 short years, and to start building and maintaining a valuable network of friends and professionals for their future. There is no doubt that this experienced mentor will be a great source of inspiration for the incoming first years.
