Muriel Saldana, une marraine inspirante

Entre TBS Education et Muriel Saldana, c’est une fidélité qui dure depuis plus de 20 ans. La marraine de la promotion 2021-2024 du Bachelor a fait toutes ses études à TBS, au Bachelor où elle est entrée en 1998, puis au Programme Grande Ecole avec une spécialisation en entrepreneuriat. Diplômée en 2003, elle a effectué depuis un parcours professionnel diversifié qui l’a amenée à de hautes fonctions dans le management et le développement commercial à l’international, d’abord chez Altran et Scalian, deux acteurs majeurs du conseil en ingénierie, avant d’intégrer le Groupe Airbus en 2013.

« J’ai été successivement directrice du développement à l’international d’AirBusiness Academy, une filiale qui commercialise des formations en leadership pour des partenaires industriels d’Airbus, puis directrice des ventes pour l’Europe et la Russie des services d’Upgrade d’avion, c’est-à-dire les améliorations cabine et mises à jour pour les avions déjà en service. » Et depuis cette année, Muriel a rejoint l’équipe rapprochée du vice-président d’Airframe Services au sein du Customer Services, où elle s’occupe plus précisément de stratégie, de finance, d’analyse des risques et de management.

Une expérience à partager

Dans l’intervalle, Muriel a toujours cultivé son lien avec TBS, au sein de l’association TBS Alumni et en participant régulièrement à des jurys. Autant dire qu’elle a beaucoup à apporter aux étudiants qu’elle va parrainer pendant trois ans. « Le rôle de marraine se construit avec le temps. En partageant avec eux mon expérience et mon réseau, je me rendrai disponible pour les suivre dans leur parcours, les aider à se connecter avec leur futur monde professionnel, et répondre à leurs interrogations. »

Ouverture d’esprit

Lors de la première rencontre avec la promotion, en tout début d’année, Muriel a eu l’occasion de prodiguer ses premiers conseils aux étudiants. Elle a rappelé l’importance de saisir tout ce que TBS met à leur disposition pour se construire personnellement et professionnellement : des apprentissages solides, un réseau riche et une ouverture sur le monde. « Avant tout, ils doivent avoir conscience qu’ils sont uniques et qu’ils doivent rester eux-mêmes. Je les encourage à toujours être ouverts d’esprit, tenter des expériences. J’ai remarqué qu’ils étaient très attentifs quand je leur ai parlé de l’accord entre les aspirations personnelles et les réalisations professionnelles, notamment à propos des voyages. C’est un bon départ ! » Nul doute qu’ils trouveront auprès de leur marraine de promotion une source d’inspiration constante durant ces trois années.

Muriel Saldana, an inspirational mentor

The close relationship between TBS and Muriel Saldana goes back over 20 years. The mentor for the 2021-2024 Bachelor’s class did all her higher-education studies at TBS, starting out on the Bachelor’s degree course in 1998, followed by the Grande Ecole Program, with a specialization in entrepreneurship. Muriel graduated in 2003. Since then, she has had a diverse career, including positions in senior management and international business development with Altran and Scalian, two major players in the field of engineering consulting, before joining the Airbus Group in 2013.

“At Airbus, I started out as Director of International Development for AirBusiness Academy, a subsidiary that provides leadership training for Airbus’s industrial partners, and then became Director of Sales for Europe and Russia for Aircraft Upgrade services, i.e., cabin improvements and upgrades for aircraft already in service.” This year, Muriel joined the inner circle of the Senior Vice-president of Airframe Services working in Customer Services, where she is responsible for strategy, finance, risk analysis and management.

Experiences to be shared

In the meantime, Muriel has always maintained close links with TBS, both as part of the TBS Alumni association and by regularly participating in examination juries. This means that she has a lot to offer the students in the class she will be mentoring for three years. “You build your role as a mentor gradually. I will make myself available to accompany the students on their journey. By sharing my experiences and my network with them, I will try to answer their questions and help them develop a real connection with their future professional world.”  

Open-mindedness

During the first meeting with the class at the very beginning of the year, Muriel had the opportunity to give the students her first pieces of advice. She reminded them how important it is to take full advantage of everything that TBS has to offer, in order to grow personally and professionally: solid academic foundations, a broad and diverse network and openness to the world. “Above all, the students need to be aware that they are unique individuals and must remain themselves. I encourage them to always remain open-minded, and to taste different experiences. I noticed that they paid close attention when I talked to them about finding a fit between personal aspirations and professional achievements, especially as regards travel. It was a good start!” They will undoubtedly find their mentor a constant source of inspiration during their three years on the course
