Bachelor in Management – S1 2016/2017

Where do you come from? (Country and university)

My home university is called Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. I study and come from The Netherlands.

What studies have you already done, and what exact programme are you doing at TBS?

I am doing International Business and Languages at this moment, I have also done the first year of Business Administration at the RUG (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen). At this moment I am doing the 3rd year of the Bachelor in Management program.

Why did you choose TBS over other schools?

I choose TBS because of the great stories I heard from friends at my home university. After that I went looking for their recommendations and ratings on the internet. I noticed a lot of positive reactions and got the best feeling with TBS.

How has your integration into TBS gone? What do you feel after your first few weeks at TBS? Are there any services/support which helped you? Any events you particularly enjoyed? Any difficulties you experienced?

My integration into TBS has gone really smooth. Especially in the first two weeks with the other exchange students I felt really easy-going and open-minded environment. Everybody was really interested in the other and that resulted in getting to know each other quite fast.
After a few weeks I continue to enjoy TBS a lot. We are now in classes mixed with Exchange and French students, so I got the know even more people in a short while. The group work also motivates that communication.
The International Services staff supported me all the time along the way. Every question was rapidly answered and we were notified about possible struggles and such. I noticed that the International Services office has a clear view about the status of the Exchange Students.
Besides that I appreciated all the party’s that the Welcome Team is organising, while also giving any help needed during the midweek at TBS.
The only difficulty that I experienced was getting a place to live. Because I started rather late with the search of a room or an apartment, I had some difficulties finding one. Toulouse is really popular with Exchange Students so a lot of people were looking for the same thing as I was.

So far, what do you appreciate about Toulouse: the people, the town, the School etc.?

I really appreciate the atmosphere in Toulouse, it is a big city but still with a cozy vibe. Like everyone hanging around at St. Pierre next to the river to meet up with friends. All the activities at the Capitole keep the city living and interesting as well.

Can you give us a small anecdote concerning your time so far at TBS?  It can be informative/funny/whatever you wish.

Besides the nice city Toulouse itself, there are also really nice surroundings. I went to the Pyrenees, Albi and Carcassonne, I really liked these trips next to my time studying and visiting the night life in Toulouse. Now I have to wait for some snow to settle at the mountains in the south so we can go for a little ski trip!

What advice would you give to a future incoming international student?

Start early with the search for a place to live and once you arrive, enjoy as much as you can because you are going to love it!
